Maya Tempora's Journal: Entry 9
by Carl van Ostrand
I cannot begin to express how much pain this brings me. One of the Elders, the Red Pariah has been taken by the Ophidians. It is my own flesh and blood that caused this catastrophe – my brother, my witless brother. He must have been feeding them information. Without help from him, the Ophidians never would have located and stolen the Red Pariah – only our family knows where they reside. And what do they want with the Elder? Stupid brother, this planet will turn to ash without them. At least you have already paid that price.
My only consolation is that my sister still understands the Pariah’s importance and has come to help. Apparently, the Ophidians do not realize this – but without the Red Pariah, the mystic life force balance of Solop Avagar will become unstable and possibly corrupted. According to Anduan, La Sinja and the Stranger almost prevented the dubious act, and killed dozens of Ophidian soldiers, but Goth Garal and Bull’s Eye still managed to escape with the Elder Red Pariah. Anduan said he was mere seconds too late.
How can it be that the Ophidians were allowed to do this? Where was the Nova Yilsian army? I know they control the Justich Federation gladiator arenas now, but this does not justify them kidnapping an Elder. Too much is unknown still. I fear the Ophidians will do their best to spin this story in their favor – media mongrels!
We are on our way to Anduan’s launchpad, where my sister and the Stranger are waiting. It has been several months since I last visited Anduan’s desert home. And I will be very happy to see La Sinja for it has been so long since she left for Tigbar to train for the arenas. Once we meet, we will organize our plan of action.
