The Journals of Baltazar Kor: Entry 1
by Hugo Ferreira

This adventure of mine started when I was walking through a Bacteria Pool with my sometimes adventure companion and treasure hunter, Oberon Smite, and Lila, a crazy woman that I’m in love with. From time to time she comes with me on my journeys. I prefer to do these things alone but she always finds a way to come with me.

Well, as I was saying, Oberon was showing the way through the Pool when an earthquake shattered the pool. We only escaped from that bio-decay zone due to one of my brilliant cybernetics inventions, a hover-boat… well… ok… damn it! It wasn’t because of my hover-boat, as it sank the second it was activated. The truth was that Lila saved us using her Psi abilities, but I really don’t like to admit that a woman saved me so I never told her that.

Let’s forget about that for now and let me resume my adventure, as I was saying we escaped that zone, just to walk into a pitfall. That was just a lucky shot. Who says earthquakes aren’t a good thing?

My job was to find an Ancient Solop Avagar Relic, called Orb of Scrying, and the person that wanted my special services was willing to pay really well for it. As usual, before I accept a job I get myself informed about the artifact. Let me say that the one that controls this orb can get the knowledge from the future; so I guess that it was a good thing for bookers. But my client’s final use of the artifact has nothing to do with me, as I’m only paid to achieve it, and not to ask about it. And as I gain more credits in a gig than a 4 VP Gladiator in an entire season, I really don’t ask many questions.

Returning to the adventure… we were at the top of the pit when Lila spotted a bright light coming from above. Oberon enhanced his vision and detected that it was what we were looking for, for the last few days in that pool. Hey, that earthquake made my job really easy, or at least that’s what I thought. But as I ordered Lila to use her powers to get the Orb, another aftershock of the earthquake happened…
