Dr. Armand Kopelman's Journal: Entry 4

We rushed to meet our colleague and were stopped by a guard. He told us that Salamon’s suit was ripped. Under Seventh Vanguard rules, Salamon cannot leave the planet until he has been medically examined. The guard asked us if we had come to any conclusions on what the spores were in the body. I said that we needed to run a few more tests before we could be sure. After a few more monotonously repetitive verbal exchanges with the guard, we were allowed to see Salamon and run some tests on him.

Dr. Salamon, looking rather nervous, told Dr. Morgson and I that he was feeling a bit queasy. I told him to stay calm and we would find out if there was anything to worry about. Dr. Morgson and I quickly ran some tests on our poor colleague. Dr. Salamon complained of minor chest pains. The results confirmed our fears. Dr. Salamon was indeed infected by Krevloc DNA. Upon finding out, Dr. Salamon began to cry.

At that moment, the guards came in and told us to leave. They were going to kill Salamon before he turned into a krevloc. The room burst into chaos, but I was able to calm everyone down as I explained that I could save Salamon from mutating. I told them that the parasite makes its way into the brain of the host and the mutation occurs shortly after. Though I wasn’t absolutely sure I would be able to save my colleague, this was much better than what the Seventh Vanguard was proposing to do.

The guards communicated with their superiors and to my surprise I was granted permission to do what I could to save Dr. Salamon.
