Dr. Armand Kopelman's Journal: Entry 2
by Kevin J. Coleman
Our investigation of the morgue has turned into a most fascinating, albeit unusual and horrific experience. Dr. Morgson has discovered what looks to be the remains of an unidentified humanoid covered in a vile form of bacteria. This rash nearly covers the entire body, with exceptionally thick layers covering the pathetic creature’s face and chest. Indeed a most irritable infliction. Boils frothing with thick, gooey puss and legions of dark pools of gelatin-like microbes buried deep within small craters throughout the carcass, covering it in a blanket of sweet decay and sickness. The large gaps (ranging approximately from 6 to 17 centimeters in diameter) of missing tissue appear to have been either eaten away or in some cases, chunks of flesh may have been simply torn out of the creature’s once-face. Indeed this is a site most terrible to behold such, in fact that I am sure others without such dedicated scientific tolerance as I, would succumb to nausea, abhorrence and sickness.
Despite such a remarkable discovery of heinous death, what has taken my curiosity of the entire situation is the fact that this body seems to have died rather recently, which is all but impossible! The last known life forms to have come to this planet, were recorded in the decisive records of the Seventh Vanguard are Dr. Crain and his expedition team – and that was well over a decade ago! This body looks as though it died approximately six months ago, a most unusual discrepancy! Though a most curious one and I am confident that I shall be able to unveil the answer as to what exactly went on here. The energy shield that surrounds the planet, in order to ward off interlopers (and fully controlled by the Vanguard), is completely capable of thwarting even demonic portalists from entering Krevic’s atmosphere. Perhaps this is some scheme conceived by the Vanguard itself. After all, few organizations can escape the coils of corruption.
Hmmm. Even so, I have already instructed Dr. Morgson and Dr. Salamon to collect a sample of this bacterium to analyze with our limited equipment and resources. Perhaps this bacterium has some connection with the Krevloc parasites? Only time (and an in-depth analysis with my cyntho-scanometer) will tell.
As I write this, the analyst has begun and the horribly inflicted carcass has most unexpectedly begun to twitch, convulse and otherwise make movements, as though it were alive! This of course requires my immediate attention…
