This zone can bring in a demonic minion into play at the end of the wave for 0 CP, but since it costs you 1 CP to play the Breeding Larvae Fields, the total cost of both cards is actually 1 CP. Also since the wave ends, that minion doesn’t really do anything. Once you pay the maintenance cost to keep the minion for the next wave, that’s where the saving comes in handy. If the difference between the minion’s maintain cost and play cost is less than 2 (like Iron Monster or Shendondrian Dominatrix), you do not save any CP. However, Royal Guard and Lockjaw do. To save more CP you might decide to not pay the maintain cost of the zone and scrap it. Imagine, a 4 CP Royal Guard for only 2 CP but with the disadvantage of not being useful until at least wave 3.
