December 5, 2003: IQ Filter
IQ Filter
This is another Psi card that is better when you have more Psi gladiators on your team. For 3 CP it can take out 4 minions. Its drawback, the minions have to be set, which means that they already got to attack you. But if you can take them out before the next wave, they will no longer be a problem. Imagine eliminating up to 4 minions like Ti Te To Tal Boom, Br00zer, Lockjaw, Krevloc Screamers, and Chronic Chainsaw (all these can deal more than 1 ADMG but only have 1 Life). Now let’s say you have 2 of these (or you managed to deal some DMG to some minions but weren’t able to kill them off). Say goodbye to Unborn, Gun-Kipa, Royal Guard, and Bone Beast. They won’t be making it to the next wave. Not bad for 6 CP total and two negative actions?
Advanced Note: Be careful if Death’s Dust is in play. If so you can always take out one of your own minions and benefit from Death’s Dust. Check out the rules (section 8.0 Timing). Since IQ Filter is played when you have the flow, you can destroy some of your opponent’s minions and one of your own and then use Death’s Dust’s continuous ability (before your opponent can) to deal out an additional 1 XDMG. That way your opponent can’t use Death’s Dust against you because you destroyed his minions with IQ Filter because you already used that trigger for Death’s Dust (see rules). Your opponent, however, may use the 1 XDMG you dealt to him from Death’s Dust if that XDMG killed one of his characters (because that is a new event).
