The Red Pariah vs. Maximillion
It was a huge day on Ursai Major. It was the day of the highly-anticipated match between the Tarn System’s home favorite 3VP Maximillion, and the newcomer clouded in mystery, the 1VP Red Pariah. The crowd was packed in to The Black Paw Dome 70,000 strong, and remote cameras took flight to get ready for the introductions.

Maximillion stepped in to the arena greeted by an eruption of cheers. He slowly strutted forward, waving to the crowd, then turning to salute the section of military officers in the front rows. Then, a large hatchway opened at the opposite end of the arena, and several Ophidian Keepers emerged carrying long electric chains. As they pulled forward, the Red Pariah slowly came forth without a struggle. He was stripped of all garbs, yet bound by chains, and was fully revealed to the public for the first time.
He was humanoid, only slightly larger than a human, yet noticeably reptilian as well, and almost dragon-like in appearance. He looked ancient and wise, but still quite lithe and powerful, armed with powerful claws and teeth, a muscular build, and armor-like scales running down his arms, legs, chest and back.
The crowd’s cheers changed to a mixture of “booing,” “aaahhhhs,” and whispers. Quickly the Ophidian Keepers, latched two electric chains to the wall so that the Red Pariah could not advance farther than his own half of the arena. They gave the signal, the nytron shields were raised to protect the audience, and the match began.
Maximillion wasted no time. He equipped a giant Beha’wan War Staff, with lethal spikes and hooks on each end. The crowd roared with approval as he broke in to quick stride, twirling the war staff and racing towards the Red Pariah. The Red Pariah calmly raised his eyes to Maximillion, and then gestured toward the floor of the arena. Ten paces from where the Red Pariah stood, rose a creature made only from sand. The Sand Spirit manifested in to humanoid form and planted in to the ground as Maximillion rushed towards it.
An explosion of sand blasted in all directions as Maximillion hammered the Sand Spirit with a single overhead bash with the giant war staff. To his surprise though, the particles of sand swarmed back together, swirling around the giant war staff at great speeds. The staff was snatched from Maximillion’s grasp as the sand quickly demolished it - a small twig and a pile of sand dropped to the arena floor.
The crowd was quiet with whispers, and Maximillion stood confused. Still opting for hand-to-hand combat, and peeved at the loss of his staff, he again rushed the Red Pariah. Chained at the waist with long chains reaching the arena wall, the Pariah could only wait in anticipation. Maximillion took several swings with his fists, connecting with impressive force, and sending the larger Red Pariah to the ground. Maximillion leapt on top of him, and continued pounding. But now, every time he connected, a bluish haze would emanate from the Red Pariah’s body, and he would remain unphased and unharmed. How could he withstand such punishment. Maximillion’s blows landed hard, fast, and heavy, but to no avail.
The crowd was in shock, as the Red Pariah grasped Maximillion by the waist with one claw, raised him in the air, and then stood up, as continuous blows did no harm. Maximillion, the relentless fighter he is, quickly equipped a huge ancient axe, and swung at the arm that grasped him. This hurt. The Red Pariah howled as a huge gash was split down his forearm, and he let Maximillion go. Now free, Maximillion surged with fierce energy and he opened up on the Red Pariah with his axe. The Red Pariah was gashed in the leg, and the chest, as he fell back to the ground. His efforts to dodge were severely hindered by the electric chains that charred his waste and tangled his left ankle. The crowd was not cheering anymore.
In a desperate move, with his back to the arena floor and Maximillion swinging overhead for a finishing blow, the Red Pariah let loose a brutal kick to Maximillion’s abdomen that sent him flying, and the crowd’s excitement grew. Both regained balance, and Maximillion wound up and threw the giant axe directly at The Red Pariah’s chest. But in a quick display of athletic skill, the Red Pariah did a backwards flip. The chain around his ankle was hoisted in to the air and severed by the flying axe. The crowd roared as the Red Pariah was now half free.
The Red Pariah now had more freedom and advanced on Maximillion. Maximillion quickly equipped his X-Assault Armor. He sweep-kicked at the Red Pariah’s ankles, hoping for a combo attack, but the Red Pariah countered by ripping right through the X-Assault Armor with one claw, then grabbing Maximillion’s face with the other, and sending him spinning to the ground, and again the crowd cheered for the newcomer.
The Red Pariah raised his arms and let out a deafening howl that shook The Black Paw Dome. The crowd cheered even more, and the Red Pariah was now trembling with power. A reddish aura surrounded him and small bolts of energy coursed through him in to the arena floor. He was changing, growing. His skin and scales darkened, and his claws and teeth grew longer. His muscles swelled, tail thickened, and his horns grew, arcing nearly 4 feet over his back. The crowd’s excitement was filled with fright as the Red Pariah was now standing nearly 14 feet tall, in his “Umbra Form,” and was not looking happy.
A small army of Ophidian Keepers rushed from the hatchway, armed to the teeth with kinetic armor and Helix Shock Pistols. Maximillion, not backing down, healed some of his lesser wounds, and pulled several combat knives from his vest. One knife dove into the Red Pariah’s shoulder, another in to his neck, and blood trickled from the wounds. Angered, the Red Pariah swung around, backhanding Maximillion and sending him sprawling again.
The Keepers had surrounded the two warriors, and forcefully escorted Maximillion out of the arena against his will. The Red Pariah then made short work of the other chain, ripping it out of the arena wall, and the nytron shields shorted out in an explosion, causing a chunk of the wall to crumble in to the arena. The crowd panicked and mayhem ensued. The Red Pariah swung the long chain at the approaching Keepers, gashing many and blood sprayed the floor. As the Keepers zapped him from afar with shock pistols, he struggled to fight back, slicing one Keeper clean in half with his claws. Several others fell victim to being crushed under his fists. Finally though, after millions of volts had been withstood, the Red Pariah collapsed unconscious to the arena floor.
The match was declared a draw.
